In the diptych Sheltering (i), the clouds gather, the tree protects, the city shelters. The image is a visual rendition of forest bathing [Shinrin-yoku (森林浴)] — being in the presence of trees —which originated in Japan in the early 1980s. Forest bathing provides emotional healing, decreases blood pressure, and reduces stress and aggression. The trees heal us, secretly, silently. | |||
